Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to get married?

In addition to the court-related fees to obtain your marriage license, the fee to perform your ceremony is $50.  This is the fee set by the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Can we personalize our ceremony?

Yes.  We will ask you questions and get to know you so we can draft a ceremony that is a reflection of your personalities and relationship.  Once complete, we will e-mail you a copy to edit and tweak if you wish to do so.

Can we have a religious ceremony?

Yes.  We can perform both religious and secular ceremonies.

My fiance and I come from two different religious backgrounds. Are you able to help us?

Interfaith wedding ceremonies are one of the things we do best.  We can create a custom ceremony for you that blends your religious traditions while remaining true to both.

I don’t want to mention (God, religion, etc.) in my ceremony. Is that okay?

Of course.  We are happy to work with you to create a custom ceremony that is authentic to you and your beliefs, whatever they may be.

Do you perform same sex ceremonies?

It is legal though out the United State for same sex couples to be married.  We treat LGBT couples exactly the same as heterosexual couples and work with you to provide a ceremony personalized to reflect the dynamics of your relationship.

How do we book our wedding with you?

You can call us at (540) 308-4153 to check our availability for the date of your event.  Or, send an e-mail to:  kathleen@virginiaweddingvows.com

What if I need to change my ceremony time or wedding date?

While we try to be as accommodating as possible, we cannot guarantee our availability for a date or time change.  Please advise us as soon as possible if you plan to change your wedding date or time.

Do you come to the wedding rehearsal?

There will be an additional fee to attend the rehearsal, provided the officiant is available.  Rehearsals are contracted separately from the wedding because most couples do not want (or require) the officiant at the rehearsal.  The rehearsal is basically a walk through for the bridal party and typically does not include the officiant.

I know we tip other vendors, but what about the officiant?

Gratuities are never expected, but are always appreciated.

Everything sounds great. How can we proceed with booking our wedding?

Simply fill out the form on our CONTACT page and we will respond to you as soon as possible.
